Time for Pioneers!

  • Stephenson, Edison, von Siemens .... and then? They forgot Samisu in that row!

  • Edison reinvented electricity my foot. All Edison did was ride on the coat tails of Nikola Tesla. Had Tesla been allowed to just work instead of having to fight off the false accusations of Edison and his backer Westinghouse, we would have things like wireless electricity and who knows what else. Tesla was the genius that Edison wanted to be and ultimately took credit for being.

  • I never liked that term anyway with regard to electricity...no one "invented" it. It's a natural occurrence that was discovered. And, while Ben Franklin is credited with modern discovery of electricity...what about those Baghdad Batteries? They are estimated to be around 2,000 years old.

  • You are absolutely right. It is more accurate to say that it was Tesla who pioneered methods of storage and transmission of electricity as well as new uses for it. He worked with Edison but after a difference of opinion, they parted ways. Edison was better financed and he used his resources to discredit Tesla (who was later vindicated)
