1884 Industrial steam locomotive XIVe No. 4
The earliest narrow-gauge locomotive extant in this country
This narrow-gauge (800 mm) twin-coupled tank engine with a twin steam engine, external Stephenson valve gear and slide valves was produced by the Krauss & Cie. Locomotive Works in Munich. The locomotive with its water tank mounted in the frame was supplied for the small works line of Vojtěšská hut' Pražské železářské společnosti (the Adalbert Metallurgical Plant of the Prague Ironmaking Company) in Kladno. In 1924, the locomotive received a new boiler from Akciová společnost strojírna (Joint Stock Company Engineering Works), formerly Breitfeld, Daněk and Partners, in Slaný. It was used in the SONP Kladno steelworks up to 1968 and three years later was donated to the National Technical Museum. Following restoration between 1981 and 1985, it became part of the Czechoslovak exhibition at the EXPO '86 World Exhibition in Vancouver in Canada.
